Frequently Asked...
Are your events just for women?
We welcome everyone. All genders of people needs a creative break, now and then. In fact, about 40% of our event attendees are men. Retreats are designed to offer a wide variety of activities; we build our agendas for classes and workshops based on the diversity of the group that signs up. From painting to crafting to creative writing to music, we aren't limited to knitting and crochet. (Although we are SO HAPPY that more men are taking up textile arts!)

Where are your retreats located?

We hold our retreats in both urban areas (day retreats) and remote country locations for those of you who want to escape the city. Final locations will be booked and announced once RSVP minimums have been met for a region. We've held our retreats at some amazing locations like Doe Bay Resort & Retreat and the Fort Casey Inn. Some locations offer lodging on site and you can choose your own accommodation...from cabin to yurt to tent camping.

How long are your retreats?
Our overnight retreats are designed for busy, working adults and run from Thursday evening through Sunday afternoon. You may attend any of the retreat dates a la carte, but we encourage you to take the extra day or two off your normal schedule to get the full experience. Sometimes we hold events that only span a single day...these are usually in urban areas and don't require much planning or travel.

Do you have to be an adult to participate?
Most often, the answer is yes. We cater to adults 18 and up who are in need of a creative renaissance in a space with adult energy. Teens 15-17 that attend with a parent are considered on a case-by-case basis. Children 14 and under are fabulous but aren't a good fit at our adult-themed events.

Can I bring a pet?
Pets are also fabulous in our eyes, however not everyone can be in the same space with pet hair/fur. So, our classes are always animal-free. You are welcome to bring a pet if the accommodation accepts them and they can be supervised 24/7. You may NOT bring a pet and leave it in your room or car during classes. You will need to arrange daycare or supervision by a friend or partner while you are in class. We should be able to accommodate service pets.

I noticed that you don't offer meals. What's up with that?

We have found that it's both easier and more cost-effective for participants to bring and prep their own food. In the past, catered events have ended up wasting about half of the intended food provided. So, we provide you with a place to make your meals (including refrigeration) and we eat family style. And during those times that you just don't want to cook, there are often full-service restaurants on-site or take-out options nearby. If you have special dietary needs, we are happy to work with you. During the day, we provide fruit, veggies, and sweet snacks plus water and juice. Alcoholic beverages are always BYOB and usually permitted (based on venue restrictions) for those who are 21 and over. Participants under 21 will not be allowed to consume alcoholic beverages while on the retreat at any time.
